Leaning about Pre-Confederate Canada is important to me as it allowed me to look at the past and reflect. I have written many reflection pieces based on writings assignment by my professor, Dr Tracy Penny Light. It was through these reflections that I began to understand where the culture of Canada came form and all those who helped to shape Canada. I also learned about different traditional origins something that I find to be important as before this class I had just assumed it was Canadian. I never questioned where things came from nor the important tie it has to other countries and cultures. This class changed my attitude to what it means to be Canadian and helped me to understand all the different hardships and successes that occurred in order to create a Canadian identity. As a nation Canada has been shaped by many different cultures that have blended over time into one.
